Sometimes I think I think too much...

Sunday, February 18, 2007

You know how it is really interesting to speculate on other people's money, but it's really rude to talk about money. You wouldnt really go over to someone who just bought a house or a car and ask them how much they paid. you would wonder though, wouldnt you? I know I do.
so since everyone here is a stranger, i just thought to take a little poll and ask about things we would never really discuss. Please chime in- it should be interesting!

what was the most expensive thing you ever bought?
how much did you pay for -you house, your car?
what is the most $$ you would spend on you own without first consulting with your spouse?
what do you regret spending money on?

I'm not big into money..
I'm not driven to make alot..nor do I give much thought to purchases..
I can be very impulsive and I never comparison shop..

on the other hand..I have no taaveh for nice cars and other material things..
I'd rather spend thousands on my garden..or for art..

af would love to hear more, but cant do the email thang.

david- one could argue that art and gardening are material things... I am never impulsive and always comparison shop. actually i am compulsive about comparison shopping. and as far as not being into money- that only works if you have money. if you dont, it takes over your every waking minute. and just to manage a modest lifestyle these days you need major bucks. so we have to be driven to make alot. (not millions, but alot)

I grew up in a house that was compulsive about comparison shopping. I usually end up doing some comparing of my own on the big things, especially when I could do it online. But, I rebel when I shop for groceries. I don't look at the flyers that come in the mail. I just buy what I need at the store that I feel like going to.

I think that can be a post in itself..is art..and other objects of enduring beauty materialistic..
The desire to have a beautiful garden for yourself...is that a taaveh?

I found it ironic when someone commented on my "toto" toilet in the newly renovated bathroom. When I went to her house, I found GRANITE countertops, and many other fancy things in her kitchen that I was tempted to comment on since she was obnoxious to me. But I let it go.
