Sometimes I think I think too much...

Saturday, May 26, 2007

So a few weeks ago, there was this spontaneous loud noise in the bathroom and when I bravely went in there to check it out, a bunch of tiles had fallen off the wall into the bathtub, leaving a big ugly gap in the tiled wall.
Instead of calling for a repairman who would be hard to reach and then charge me a bunch of money I decided to fix it myself.
I pulled off all the loose tiles surrounding the hole - there were about 15 of them. The sheetrock behind them was nasty - black and mushy, so I pulled that out too. (i wore rubber gloves cuz it was GROSS)
Then I went to HOME DEPOT - my favorite store (woohoo!) and bought:
-a piece of sheet rock
-tiles 15 - of course they didnt have the same color- but so what?
-tile adhesive/grout
-adhesive spreaders
-razor
total $30

Back home, I cut the sheetrock with the razor to fit the empty hole. Then I nailed it into the beam. Then I spread the adhesive over the new sheetrock, put on the tiles, waited 24 hours to let it dry, spread more grout over it to fill the spaces and then cleaned off the excess. I sat in the tub while doing it. It was easy! and fun!
Now i am so proud of myself, everyone who comes to visit gets dragged into the bathroom so i can show them my handiwork. Good thing the tiles are a different color than the rest of the wall so it's more noticeable.
Needless to say, everyone is very impressed.

Mega -
Good for you! It's great to start and complete a job like that. I myself designed and built the breakfront in my dining room. It looks great & I feel great about it.
It's also good to see a positive post from you!

lakevent- I wont email you, there is no nice way to say this but I guess I can tell you - you recently added a link - a blog that is completely inappropriate for someone like you to be
a-looking at b- sharing with others and causing others to view shmutz. I think you should delete it.

semgirl: I have a policy - if a dumb mexican can do it, so can I. therefore I have recently painted all the rooms in my house, wallpapered, pulled out shrubs, replanted new ones, painted my kitchen cabinets, installed light fixtures, put down floors and more. its fun and my house is looking better and better... if you need work done - do it yourself. ask the guys at home depot how to do anything, they'll give you exact directions.

Regarding the blog I recently added: a) It is not for you to tell me what is appropriate for me to look at b) as far as others, I have added the disclaimer "mature content" so they can make the decision to view or not view it.

"a) It is not for you to tell me what is appropriate for me to look at "
why not?
I dont know who you are, but I dont know how anyone can honestly argue that it IS appropriate for you to look at.
KOL Yisrael areivim...Hocheiach tocheach...
would you want your son or daughter looking at that, even once they are "Mature"?

"b) as far as others, I have added the disclaimer "mature content" so they can make the decision to view or not view it. "
first of all I did not see that label, I must have missed it.
secondly, I have always hated that term because it whitewashes the truth. Mature - it implies that if you reach a certain age it's okay to view pornography?
that is so WRONG!
and it just gives me the creeps to think of you living a frum life and then ogling this stuff. those two things just dont go hand in hand, if you know what I mean.

please think about all this, I dont mean to knock you at all, just point out...
