Sometimes I think I think too much...

two reasons why I sometimes go awhile before a new post.

1- There's not much going on in my life, so n0thing to write about

2- There's alot going on in my life, so not alot of time to sit down and write.

not sure..how to go about it..
cuz my blog..would be shocking to most traditional frum publishers..
and too jewish for secular ones..
jewish?
not jewish?
any ideas?

you can always self publish. then you wouldnt be too shocking to yourself or too jewish for yourself . it's perfect.
are you going to publish your poems and essays?
cuz I already read most of them...for free

ps you cannot imagine how particular some of the frum papers are... they are terrified of offending anyone. I used to do a column for a local paper and they sometimes edited out the most innocuous stuff for fear of offending

I've thought of that..
But if I self publish then I have to distribute/advertise as well...otherwise..who's going to sell it?

But you can always drop us a line to let us know you are there.

Can you give an example?Just because you think something is innocous doesn't mean it really is.And some Lakewood publications sure don't seem concerned with the feelings of the 'Yishuv H'Yashon' in Lakewood.(I'm guessing you wrote for The Voice-but I know that now you wont't confirm it)

In any event there are plenty of Jewish publishers who thrive off publishing controversial works(unless of course the controvrsial person is pro kollel or pro establishment)

david, you can always give it to a distributor like Israel Book Shop.
Annonymous, nice to know someone out there cares. Even when I do post, i get the feeling that I am talking to myself.

anyway, you wanted a for instance. two examples that come to mind immediately is that i once wrote the word "toilet" (not in context of using toilet, which may not be very tasteful, but in context of pouring leftover gravy out, and they replaced it with "garbage can" which kind of wrecked the point I was trying to make.
also, once I made reference to girls learning gemorrah (it was in a humorous way, I was not condoning it or anything) and they changed it to "girls learning French" which again, ruined the humorousness. so I think that is kind of petty, and i dont consider those examples offensive.
and yes, it was the VOICE. Also, they dont publish every letter in the coffee room, I know this cuz I once wrote a letter to them which they did not publish cuz it was a little on the liberal side of yeshivishkeit.

I tried IsraelBookShop but never heard back from them..
But then again..I sent them to my blog..
I should have just taken some frum excerpts and sent it to them.

Not publishing the word toilet..is retarded...

My wife used to work in a plumbing store (not in Lakewood)and people complained about toilet advertisments.Different strokes for different folks.

I don't think The Voice should publish every letter to the editor. There is enough nonsense on blogs for those who need it.

As far as issues like not publishing a letter to the left of Yeshivishkeit, it really depends on (1)the content (2) the apparent motive of the writer.Another issue is that certain behavoir is acceptable elsewhere but not in Lakewood because even assuming the Yeshiva does not have the status of Minhag H'mokom (which I'm not)you are bottom line still being a Poretz Geder.
